Passenger rights on flight delays

If your flight is delayed by more than 3 hours upon arrival, you are entitled to cash compensation of €250, €400, or €600, depending on the flight distance. You are also entitled to refreshments and communication from 2 hours onwards, a refund or alternative flight from 5 hours onwards, and hotel and transfer accommodations in case of overnight delays.

1. Passenger Rights in Case of Flight Delays

If a flight arrives 3 hours or more later than its scheduled arrival time, passengers are entitled to cash compensation based on the flight distance (kilometers).

Cash Compensation for Delays of 3 Hours or More

Compensation is payable when the delay is caused by technical issues, operational problems, or reasons attributable to the airline.
Situations such as severe weather conditions, airspace closures, or security risks may be considered extraordinary circumstances.

Right to Care During Delays

  • Delays of 2 hours or more: Meals and refreshments, and communication facilities
  • Delays of 5 hours or more: Ticket refund or free re-routing on an alternative flight
  • Overnight delays: Hotel accommodation and transfer services
